Introducing Pathmaker
But you can call them your guilty pleasure!
Evoking the post-grunge style of songwriting popularized in the ‘90s with a harder, more modern edge. These New York natives take pride in not taking themselves too seriously while ensuring that they bring their “A” game to any performance. For them, it’s all about the thrill of entertaining a crowd while maintaining a fun-loving, comedic demeanor that everyone can enjoy.
Co-founded by James Salamon and Evelyn Colli, the earliest iteration of the band was formed in 2015. In 2016, they played their first and only show, after which the project briefly disbanded. After reconnecting a few months later, James and Evelyn found that they had a strong desire to keep the vision alive and began shaping what would become the foundation of Pathmaker’s sound.
Not one to waste time during the break, James, who was inspired by Dave Grohl’s one-man approach on the first Foo Fighters record and the powerful melodic rock that followed, began work on what would be the band's freshman album. Entering Long Island’s iconic Cove City Sound Studios in 2017, James recorded every instrument himself while Evelyn, having now returned to the group, contributed as co-writer and producer. The result: Weight Of The World, an 11-track debut that marked Pathmaker’s rebirth in 2018. With the album released, they expanded the lineup: first bringing in bassist Yogi Falco and, soon after, guitarist Jake Backman to complete the quartet. With that, the heart of Pathmaker was firmly in place.
With a new band came a different style. This change in tone was implemented on their following single Race!. Released in 2022, Race! was more inspired by the works of Alter Bridge: strong, hard-hitting riffs with plenty of room for melodic richness. The desire for this style did not end here though, as in 2024, they unleashed their sophomore album Something More. Displaying that same mash-up of heavy and melodic energy, they pushed it further by crafting a wall of sound, making Something More bigger and bolder than any of their previous works.
With just north of 60 shows under their belt, Pathmaker have cemented themselves as part of the Long Island rock community. Their energetic live performances have brought them many incredible local opportunities such as performances at the Huntington Fall Festival and the Fall Of The House Spring Festival, as well as opportunities abroad such as the Launch Music Festival. Moving onward and upward, Pathmaker have even generated their own annual Halloween event, the Monster Mosh, since inception in 2022. From here, the band only intends to climb to even greater heights and further evolve.
